Unlike other times, it’s because I’ve been busy in a relatively positive way, so at the risk of posting something useless and boring, here’s an update on life.

A few things vie for my time these days, so it’s a relief to have stumbled upon two that can go hand-in-hand and contribute to each other (at least by keeping me focused and awake). The two? Listening to audiobooks and a certain, mindless craft that I’m leaving ambiguous (because I want to leave it unknown). When I lived in Provo I’d listen to audiobooks while cleaning or organizing but there’s only do much of that you can do. My unspecified craft-hobby helps me stay awake but let’s me focus on the audiobook even more than cleaning does, so that’s nice. I’ve gotten quite a few audiobooks listened to this way so far.

Guilt visits me every time I do this, however. Someone lent me The Masks of God, a series by Joseph Campbell about half a year ago. Reading it has taken me longer than I’ve ever required for books lent to me. If you’ve ever picked a Joseph Campbell book up before you can probably guess why, but as difficult as his writing is, I love what he’s got to say. I really do like the series a lot, but it’s not a stress-free read, and I’ve definitely had plenty of stress in my life these last two years. Anyway, I’ve been reading a lot more from these books and have gained quite a bunch of material to work with (bluestone.tdspeirs.com is my most visible example right now). I want to get these books finished off in the near future as this year promises to be busy.

That Bluestone portal came to me while I was reading about the battle between Zeus and Typhon in Occidental Mythology, book 3 of Campbell’s series. The comparison of this battle with others played right into my hand, or mind if you prefer. People are aware of a series of books I’ve been working on that “overthrows” (more accurate to say it “rewrites,” but I like the word overthrows more) all we know or think we know about mythology, history, fairytale, folklore and more. That’s quite the daunting goal, but a massive amount of it could never fit in my story, so I decided to create a site where I can tell those tales and rewrite them as they “really happened” and so forth. Unfortunately bluestone.com is a claimed domain, so I went with bluestone.tdspeirs.com.

There’s always other aspects life and figuring medical stuff out (not sure at the moment if there is or is not progress in this department). Life’s rough and busy. A silver lining? Well for all of you who get the reference (of those who actually read my posts, that’ll be almost nobody) “I have to go see about a girl”…soon. Somehow. Yadda yadda yadda amen.

For all the unaware, this is my first post of the new year.
