I finished rereading Carol Plum-ucci’s The Body of Christopher Creed this morning and still felt the same excitement and thrill of the first time I read it back in 2004.
To briefly sum the story, Christopher Creed has gone missing and Torey Adams is determined to find out what happened to him – did somebody kill him? Or did he simply run away? Torey’s search proves life-changing as he faces the truth about those who live in Steepleton – the town he has always called home.
So why am I writing about this book? Well, there happen to be two reasons, the first simply being that Carol Plum-ucci became my first real encouragement for writing (yes, Terry Brooks’s Shannara series caused me to decide upon writing, but Carol Plum-ucci convinced me that writing is worth it).
The other reason is because The Body of Christopher Creed is a masterpiece in my eyes. No, it’s not foolproof, but so nearly so. I want to delve into the book but hesitate to be a spoiler – it tells the story so much better than I can anyway.
This book is not recommended for young children because it deals with “adult” themes such as suicide and infidelity but presents such themes honestly without going into unnecessary detail. I VERY much recommend this book to anyone needing something to read (and even to those currently in the middle of one or more other books). If you’re ready to have a new outlook on life, this book will help you along the way.
