I just spent the last few hours writing blog posts for my Comms 239 class blog so frankly I’m kind of tired of blog posting right now. But anyway, that’s a terrible way to begin a blog post, no matter how true it is.
The fact of the matter is, National Novel Writing Month is over. I hit 50,000 words on the 11th (and it only took that long because I procrastinated a few days) but it took me the rest of the month to hit my goal of 100k (and for that, I have the excuse that it can be kind of depressing when a really good friend heads on a mission for two years).
It’s over. But this year was very productive for publishing purposes. Sure, the story for November would need a lot more work than I feel like giving it anytime soon. But the nature of my novel was such that it allowed me to explore plot holes and problems in my other stories (one’s I hope to get published someday).
I’ve done some thinking and set the goal for myself to have a submitable draft of my first novel by the end of February (well, the 28th because that’s my birthday). I figure that gives me three months. I intend to write only one draft during that time, so I’ve got one month per third of the story line. Because assignments are all due next week (I have six assignments due just on Tuesday), I’ve not yet gotten into my hardcore editing yet, but I will as soon as I post this (because I’ve done too much homework for one day).
Here’s to February 28 best day of the year!!!
